Piano, Voice, Songwriting with Nancy Briggs, Ph.D.: Composer, pianist, vocalist recording artist and music educator
Student recitals in Fall and Spring
Dr. Briggs has taught at the Center for 7 years. She also teaches at Sierra College, and performs throughout the Sacramento region. She is versed in classical, jazz and world music traditions, and has premiered works for orchestra, theater, chorus, electronic media, and chamber and jazz ensembles. Her CD of original songs and tunes, Dreamdance, has received international airplay.
Piano: For children (younger than age 6 by audition only) to adults, Briggs offers individualized lesson plans; incorporating technique, improvisation, note-reading, theory, rhythmic practice, duet-playing, sight-reading and solo repertoire.
Voice: For children (younger than age 7 by audition only) to adults, lessons include progressive exercises in technique and note-reading, and song selection in many styles. Lessons are taped for home practice. Achieve control and freedom in singing, through learning to sing through the “break”, increasing your range, and breathing techniques.
Tuesdays and Thursdays
$160/month for ½ hour lessons. 45 minute and hour lessons offered.
A New and Exciting Preschool Music Program
Children are introduced to the exciting world
of music through singing, rhythm and listening activities. This program is a non keyboard based programand it shares the high quality of musical instruction in a very relaxing and fun-filled manner.
Group instruction enhances development of
listening awareness, fine motor skills, attention span and social skills.
Ten weeks course program 30 minutes per class
There is no parent participation required although it is welcome.
Ages 3-4
Saturdays 12:00PM-12:30PM
Commencing September 15th 2007
Cost: $240 for 10 weeks
Guitar & Bass Lessons with Jim Spedden: Instructor and Performer
Individualized 1/2 hour lessons are offered. Jim will teach students of all ages.
Subjects covered include:
Music notation and Tablature - Music Theory and Application
Technique (Pick and Fingerstyle)
Jim has been teaching for 15 years and has developed a curriculum for students of all ages and abilities, emphasizing a fun and creative approach to learning music.

Styles include; Blues, Rock, Jazz, Country, and Flatpicking/Bluegrass. Play-along CD's are available for students as they advance.

Guitar: Rich Ayala
A player for 29 years with over 15 years teaching experience, Rich has developed an approach to teaching that is both encouraging and fun for students of all ages. Rich is a local studio musician for DB Audio group in Loomis and has recorded on several projects in the Bay area as well. In a relaxed atmosphere students will learn music notation and technique, as well as songs of their choice for both acoustic and electric guitar. "My goal is to help the students feel comfortable so they can learn to have fun on this great instrument!"

Piano & Violin with Cindy Su
Taiwan's Private Music School
Cal State University of Sacramento
Cindy Su has been immersed in music and playing the piano since she was 4 years old. At the age of 12 Cindy moved from Taiwan to the United States where she furthered her education and love of the piano and violin.
Ms. Su has been instructing students of all ages for the past 5 years in Yuba City and has now joined the Art Center Staff where she will give 1/2 hour private
piano and violin lessons. Listening knowledge of music theory
will be incorporated into all courses.

Drum & Saxophone: Adamen Hannaford
Adamen Hannaford has been teaching for 10 years. He focuses on developing the necessary skills for students to become versatile musicians and performers while providing an upbeat and
exciting environment for learning. Adamen believes in fostering a life- long enthusiasm for music by instilling a passion for excellence in his students.
Saxophonists will develop embouchure, fingering and breathing techniques.
Drummers will learn sticking, pedaling, polyrhythms and reading.
Technical Emphasis
Theory, Sight-reading, ear training, improvisation, appreciation.
Styles Include
Funk, Blues, Jazz, Rock, Classical, Shuffle, Swing and Bossa.
Individual half hour lessons are offered.

Piano, Voice, Woodwinds: Hosanna Hannaford
Pianist, Performer, Composer, and Instructor
Degree: Bachelor of Music, University of the Pacific Conservatory of Music
Hosanna's performance experience includes solo piano concerts, ensemble performances on flute, and concerts with various rock/jazz bands. Hosanna has taught students of all ages. She teaches many styles of music including classical, jazz and popular music. Her main focus is on creating a fun and interesting learning environment while giving the student the basic tools necessary to become a well-rounded musician. Equal emphasis is given to music reading and ear training.
In addition to teaching piano, Hosanna also gives lessons in beginning flute, voice, music theory and song writing.
Individual half hour lessons are offered
